Dates: September 11-15, 2017

Curriculum Information for the Week:
Literacy: Students have had a chance to complete and evaluate their writing based upon Fly Away Home.  Writing goals are being established in order to improve leads (including hooks), conclusions (with “so what” statements) and supporting paragraphs containing evidence, examples and elaboration in relation to themes and thesis statements.  Readers’ and Writers’ workshop model support each other with the book clubs being essential to the writing of the literary essay.

Math: Unit 2 is all about fractions.  Students will begin with a tuning in and then venture onto adding fractions with like denominators.

Unit of Study: We will be in Melaka Tuesday and Wednesday.  Melaka is a strong example of governmental influence and power.  When we return classes will continue examining different forms of government, referring to the Melaka experience as our case study.

For more information and ways to support your child please visit the Parent Learning Connection page.
