Weekly Newsletter Grade 5

Dear Parents,

Curriculum Information for this Week:

Literacy & Unit of Study: This week students will use their research to start compiling an opinion or informational essay on their chosen social issue and notable person/people, which will form an integral part of their ‘Social Change Blackboard Project’.  Students will also use this information to complete other portions of their blackboards, such as poems, magazine covers and timelines.

Math: This week all classes will wrap up the unit on Volume. The assessment will be taken at the end of the week, including conversion of metric measurements as well as computing volume of rectangular prisms.

May 15-Novel Knockout at the BIS for those who have participated
May 16-Music Concert at 9:00am for students and teachers
May 17-Music Concert at 7 p.m. (Students arrive at 6:30pm for the band portion, recorder and choir students arrive at 6pm)
May 21-G5 Orientation to the MS Visit, 10:30am-2:30pm. All Library books are to be returned
May 21-GR5 Middle School Visit
May 25-Wet and Wild Day-G5 from 8:15-9:50am
May 30-Social Change Blackboard Share with G4: 2:00-2:45 -G5 classrooms and common area
May 31-Social Change Blackboard Share with parents: 2:00-2:45 -G5 classrooms and common area
